Spelling and Handwriting

Small steps...

Practice writing the word of the day in your neatest handwriting several times:

Have a go at...

Write today's sentence containing the word 'many'.

'There are many exciting places to explore.'

Challenge yourself...

I wonder if you can use your neatest handwriting to write your own sentence using the word of the day.

You can have a go at writing these spelling words in your best joined up handwriting.

Small steps...

Describe the animals from the story using an adjective.  Remember to use capital letters and full stops.

Have a go at...

Use an expanded noun phrase to describe the animals you will write about as well as the fruits they take from Handa's basket. Remember to use a comma between adjectives.

Challenge yourself...

You can choose different animals for your very own version of the story, make sure you have described them and the fruits they take from Handa's basket using expanded noun phrases.

Small steps...

Continue to explore 1/2 and 1/4 practically by using playdoh or carefully cut out squares, rectangles and circles - share these into equal parts. Remember you can re-watch Mrs Jennings video from yesterday to remind you.

Have a go at...

Challenge yourself...

  • How would you explain 1/2 to someone?
  • How would you explain 1/4 to someone?

Learning to Learn

Today we are making a snack for Handa to eat on the way to Akeyo's village. You can design your own snack or have a go at making these rock cakes.

African Rock Cakes

Here is a picture of 'Handa's African Rock Cakes'. We hope you like them.

End of the day story.
