Welcome to music

This week we will be thinking about:

  • Listening to music and the emotions it can create.
  • Listening and identifying different sounds.
  • Learning a song using sign language.

 Listen and Appraise

What instruments do you hear?

How does this make you feel?

What is the tempo of this music? (fast or slow?)

What are the dynamics of this music? (loud or soft)

What is the pitch of the music? (high or low)

Did you like it?  (explain your reason why?)

(Remember you don't have to like the same type of music as your friend)

  • Think about the sounds/instruments you can hear.
  • Whilst listening to the music keep the page on the pictures of the instruments - I wonder what you can hear?
  • Choose which instruments you think are being played.

  Rhythm Activity

We're going to join our friend in this video to learn a little bit more about playing rhythms.  Listen carefully to what he is saying and then copy the rhythm he is playing. Use your legs, chest or your hands to play each of the rhythms.

Have fun....and join in with the chorus.

 Singing activity

This term we are going to learn a song using British Sign Language. You can pause or go back as many times as you need to.

Don't worry if you only get the hang of the chorus. We will continue to learn this song over the next few weeks.
