Welcome to music

This week we will be thinking about:

  • Listening to music and understanding the emotions it can create.
  • Exploring dynamics.
  • Practice our singing skills and sing favourite assembly songs.

 Listen and Appraise

What instruments do you hear?

How does this make you feel?

What is the tempo of this music? (fast or slow?)

What are the dynamics of this music?  (loud or soft)

What is the pitch of the music?  (high or low)

Did you like it?  (explain your reason why?)

(Remember you don't have to like the same type of music as your friend)

Dark Isle Piper: The Gael ( Last of the Mohicans Theme)

   Exploring dynamics

Today we will think about dynamics. What is dynamics?

'Dynamics is the volume of the sound'

If we were to record dynamics for someone else to copy, how do you think we could show this? Talk to your friends.

Let's join Mr Mulhurn and discover a great way to record dynamics.

Dynamics

Let's have a go at creating our very own dynamic grid. Ours won't be as big as Mr Mulhern's because this is just for practice.

You can include any of the symbols that Mr Mulhern mentioned

getting quieter

soft

(quiet)

getting louderloud

Note to TA:     These can go home or be recycled.

  Practicing our assembly songs

We have lots of favourite songs we like to sing during our school assemblies. Let's have a practice with one of these.

Good to be me
