Welcome to music

This week we will be thinking about:

  • Listening to music and the various emotions it can evoke.
  • Practice writing with dynamics.
  • Remembering some assembly favourites.

 Listen and Appraise

What instruments do you hear?

How does this make you feel?

What is the tempo of this music?  (fast or slow?)

What are the dynamics of this music?  (loud or soft)

What is the pitch of the music?  (high or low)

Did you like it?  (explain your reason why?)

(Remember you don't have to like the same type of music as your friend)

 Exploring dynamics

Today we will think about dynamics. What is dynamics?

'Dynamics is the volume of the sound'

If we were to record dynamics for someone else to copy, how do you think we could show this? Talk to your friends.

Let's join Mr Mulhurn and discover a great way to record dynamics.

Dynamics

Now let's have a go at creating our very own dynamic grid. Ours won't be as big as Mr Mulhern's because this is just for practice. You can draw this on a whiteboard or some plain paper.

You can include any of the symbols that Mr Mulhern  mentioned

getting quieter

soft

(quiet)

getting louderloud

When you have completed it, pass it to a friend and let them have a go.

 Singing Practice!

Choose from any of the songs that appear in the assembly favourites link below and have a practice. Remember to face forward and to sing your words clearly.
