Welcome to music

This week we will be thinking about:

  • Listening to music and the various emotions it can evoke.

(reminds us of a feeling or memory)

  • Practicing our skills with the rhythms using 'ta', 'ti-ti' and 'rest'
  • Taking a closer look at a faster 'four syllable' beat with Mr Rob.
  • Continuing to develop an understanding of tempo.

 Listen and Appraise

What instruments do you hear?

How does this make you feel?

What is the tempo of this music? - (fast or slow?)

What are the dynamics of this music? - (loud or soft)

What is the pitch of the music? - (high or low)

Did you like it? - (explain your reason why?)

(Remember you don't have to like the same type of music as your friend)

   Sweet beets

Let's take a reminder of when we started to learn rhythm through singing with Mr Rob and his sweet beets song. Today we are going to remind ourselves of the 4 syllable beat using the word 'ad-vo-ca-do'.

 Tempo Game!

Who can remember what tempo is?

Tempo is the speed of the beat in a piece of music. The faster the beat, the faster the music. The slower the beat, the slower the music.

Let's play a game using tempo with our friend Miss Bliss - can you beat your personal best from last week?

Note to TA:

Here are the time stamps to skip to if your class are ready and don't need the beginning introductions.
