Welcome to music

This week we will be thinking about:

  • Listening to music and the emotions it can create.
  • Listening and practicing rhythms.
  • Learning a song using sign language.

 Listen and Appraise

What instruments do you hear?

How does this make you feel?

What is the tempo of this music? (fast or slow?)

What are the dynamics of this music? (loud or soft)

What is the pitch of the music? (high or low)

Did you like it?  (explain your reason why?)

(Remember you don't have to like the same type of music as your friend)

Sweet Home Alabama

  Lego Rhythms!

We are going to learn all about the beats 'ta' and 'ti-ti' with Mrs Durrant and the help of her Lego bricks.

Watch carefully and listen to her instructions as you go.

Have fun.

Note to TA - around the 8:35 minute mark the class will need to be split into two groups.
If you'd prefer you could all clap rhythm one and then rewind the video and everyone clap rhythm two.

Lego Rhythms 1

How did you get on?

Did you find the double rhythm tricky?

Now try and clap these rhythms below.

Use the metronome to help you keep time.

Use this Wood Metronome to help keep time - 85 BPM

 Singing activity

This term we are going to learn a song using British Sign Language. You can pause or go back as many times as you need to.

Don't worry if you only get the hang of the chorus. We will continue to learn this song over the next few weeks.
