Pupil Premium is additional funding which schools receive to support pupils who are vulnerable to possible underachievement. This includes pupils who are eligible (or were previously eligible) for Free School Meals, are looked after by the Local Authority, or are children of Armed Service Personnel.
Pupil Premium funding is not ring-fenced. It is for schools to best decide how to use the funding to support disadvantaged pupils.
Our Pupil premium strategic plan provides individualised provision which supports pupil's academic success and emotional wellbeing.
All schools have been awarded monies from the DFE to support basic skills in P.E.
We currently use this money to employ specialist P.E. coach Mr Tony Funnell to run activities during school.
This year we will also free coaching sessions after school and will engage in competitive activities with other local schools. We work closely with our federated school, Hamworthy Park Junior School to offer sporting activities outside the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
In recent year we have invested our Sports Funding to create a state of the art astro turf and skills area to support our childrens PE development.
Hopefully these measures in combination will lead to a longer term legacy in developing the profile of sport within the young children in Hamworthy.
