Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is additional funding which schools receive to support pupils who are vulnerable to possible underachievement. This includes pupils who are eligible (or were previously eligible) for Free School Meals, are looked after by the Local Authority, or are children of Armed Service Personnel.

Pupil Premium funding is not ring-fenced. It is for schools to best decide how to use the funding to support disadvantaged pupils.

Our Pupil premium strategic plan provides individualised provision which supports pupil's academic success and emotional well-being.

Armed Service Personnel Grant

The funding received by the school for children from service families is invested in providing a range of pastoral systems and programmes for pupils to provide support, when needed.  This support includes Pets As Therapy (PAT) Dogs, the Listening ear box, gardening club, pastoral chats, play therapy, etc. Our Pastoral team also hold a weekly 'Pirate Club' at lunchtimes for Service pupils. This is a chance for pupils to play with special , quality toys, as well as to talk about their common life experiences with our Pastoral team.

Sports Funding

All schools have been awarded monies from the DFE to support basic skills in P.E. In the year 2017-18, Governors agreed to combine funding across the Federation, to finance the building of a MUGA pitch on the Junior school site. This is a fantastic resources for the school community, and whilst situated on the Junior site, will be used for all children, and especially to support transition between Years 2 and 3.

In previous years we have invested our Sports Funding to create a state of the art astro turf and skills area to support our children's PE development.

Hopefully these measures in combination will lead to a longer term legacy in developing the profile of sport within the young children in Hamworthy.
