World Book Day 2019
World Book day is a special event which we celebrate every year, to support our love of books and reading! Each child receives their own book token to exchange for one of the ten books on offer at WH Smiths.
World Book Day started with an exciting assembly. Mr Rogers and Miss Beckett retold the story of The Gingerbread Man with the help of the children. The Reception children were super writers and wrote some fantastic descriptive sentences about their favourite book character. The children in Year 1 celebrated their love of reading with a World Book Day Party. We had lots of fun making Gruffalo Brownies, puppets and story sacks. In Year 2 the children really enjoyed reading the David Walliams Book 'The Worlds Worst Children'. They were so inspired that they wrote their own version based on his terrible tales.
Thank you for your support with costumes - the children looked magnificent and it contributed to really magical buzz around the school!
A brilliant and very memorable week.... Here's to reading!
